Coating Set-Up Technician (2nd Shift) **

Job Summary/Objective: Under the direction of the Production Manager Coating Operations of Chroma Technology, the Coating Setup Technician is primarily responsible for cleaning and preparation items to be vacuum coated.   Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  • Cleaning and preparation of glass substrates and jigs prior to thin film coating
  • Cleaning and preparation of filters and beam splitters prior to anti- reflective coating
  • Operating ultrasonic cleaning system.
  • Evaluating and quality control of parts and surfaces before and after coating
  • Inspect kitted jobs for proper tooling, correct material including size, quantity of parts issue and surface condition
  • Use scheduling software to ensure jobs are ready for manufacturing on time.
  • Route finished parts to appropriate departments
  • Ensure correct information is entered into data collection fields.

 Work Environment:
  • Chroma is a fast-paced, collaborative, high tech manufacturing environment
    • Work is performed in a clean room which requires wearing a lab coat, hair net, dedicated shoes, gloves, and a beard net when applicable
    • Work is performed under focused high intensity lights in an otherwise darkened environment
    • This role routinely uses tools including microscopes, calipers, and micrometers, as well as alcohol, and acetone
 Physical Demands:
  • Dexterity in handling small, delicate parts

Your Role: The Industrial Software Engineer will be part of a small team responsible for the design, creation, acquisition, integration and continuous improvement of software systems used for design and manufacturing throughout the company. Their work includes automating our advanced manufacturing floor, statistical process control, and optical thin film CAD software.  This role is part of succession planning for a long-standing member of the software team; we are seeking someone available and excited for a long career with us. They should have a foundation in agile software development that fits with, and can help advance, Chroma’s software engineering culture. We are seeking applicants with the following essential qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar, or the ability to prove equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of 3+ years programming in various development environments, including hardware control and automation
  • Experience with team development of software using a code repository system such as SVN or GIT
Any of the following is an advantage:
  • Experience developing GUI’s, networking, and multi-threaded applications in a Microsoft Windows environment
  • Experience with Delphi RAD Studio
  • Experience with SQL database programming
  • Knowledge of thin film design, spectroscopy, vacuum coating equipment and processes

Join our team of collaborative employee-owners who are self-motivated, independent workers willing to strategize and together work towards the long-term prosperity of the company.   Your Role: Responsible for OEM Account satisfaction, OEM revenue (profitable and increasing) and contributing to the development of OEM strategy: Account Managers create, retain and mature long term relationships with new and existing OEM customers and stakeholders in the field of optical filters.  Depending upon individual skill sets, Account Managers increase the number and value of accounts, as well as drive expansion into other markets, thereby increasing sales and profits. Accounts managers take an active role in formulating OEM strategy.   Primary Responsibilities:
  • EM account satisfaction:
    1. Provide quotes for OEM customers to meet their specifications/needs
      • Work closely with applications, design and methods  to ensure the filter design and specification are optimal for the application, and cost effective, while providing a barrier to entry against competition
    2. Maintain relationships with clients by:
      • provide support, information, and guidance to customers
      • keep customers apprise of new products and capabilities
      • act as liaison between the customer and other key departments at Chroma
        • Assist in resolving product and service problems by acting as liaison between QA and customer as needed, and participating in trouble shooting
  • Increase profitable revenue from OEM accounts.
    1. As a group, participate in market research, and assist in developing marketing, advertising and promotional plans and budgets (including OEM tradeshow schedule)
      • Participate in literature and web-site development
    2. Develop product lines for particular applications
    3. Actively seek out new leads, open new markets
    4. Use reporting and analytical tool for monitoring key accounts
    5. Use tradeshows to:
      • Educate customer on offerings (products, capabilities, service)
      • Engage new customers
      • Strengthen relationships with current customers
      • Learn about market trends from other professionals
    6. As a group Map the interplay of companies within the markets of interest – who owns whom, sub-contracts to whom
  • Advocate for and participate in OEM sales strategy development via conversations with Sales Manager and Sales teams.
  • Participate in the development of, and adherence to, prototype and volume pricing mechanisms for OEM accounts.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by reading publications and attending lectures and workshops that are relevant to the product and markets of interest.
  • At least once per year, act as tradeshow owner, establishing and achieving show goals.
  • If not stationed full time at Chroma Bellow Falls, take pains to maintain integrated relationship with pertinent team and department members, including at least semi-annual trips to HQ, encompassing at least 10 working days per year.
  • Travel for tradeshows and/or customer visits six or more times per year.
  Qualifications:
  • Practical to extensive knowledge of filter manufacturing, design, underlying science and technologies, and applications (including fluorescent phenomena)
  • 5-10 years of technical sales and/or support experience and experience in the optics industry required.
  • Undeniable ability to produce while working unsupervised

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field (biology, chemistry, physics or engineering)
