Traffic Controller

The Traffic Controller is the central contact point for all project work that flows through Scout Digital.  Once a project has been opened in Jira, the Traffic Controller will develop a scheduled timeline.  Working with the project stakeholders, the Traffic Controller will assign specific people to the steps required to complete the job.  The Traffic Controller monitors resource requirements and alerts the appropriate staff of outside/freelance staffing needs. The Traffic Controller makes sure that all work will be completed within the scheduled deadlines.  As needed, the Traffic Controller will work with Account Managers to adjust deliverable deadlines as needed while still meeting the client’s needs.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Create timelines that will ensure that the projects will be completed within the client’s deadlines while allowing ample time to get the work done to the expectations of the client
  2. Review daily work loads with all departments and adjust assignments as needed making sure that the appropriate talent is used and workloads are evenly maintained.
  3. Make adjustments to each project timeline and overall workload as job demands change.
  4. Make sure each team member knows the assignments that they need to complete and are aware of due dates. 
  5. Act as the mediator between all stakeholders to establish and re-evaluate priorities. 
  6. Informs account manager when client communication is required to get approvals or gather assets to complete work.
  7. Keep in contact with all departments regarding current deadline status and any issues that may need client or agency attention.
  8. Coordinate with the technical leads on all outsourced requirements and the scheduling and delivery of those resources.
  9. Stand up Jira boards and assign project numbers and issues based on project proposals and SOWs.
  10. Prepare production estimates based on briefings from the production team and account managers.

Job Specifications/Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

Experience: 4-5 years of experience in project management

Skills: Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodology, experience with: Jira, Tempo, Confluence, Hubspot, and Excel/Google Sheets

Personal Qualities: Team minded, collaborative, detail oriented, self-motivated, and accountable 

Nice-Haves: Scrum Certification, operational and HR experience, and love for dogs

Working at Scout Digital, you’ll apply your design thinking skills to define, design, and refine real-world problems for clients of all sizes across a wide variety of industries. You’ll primarily focus on designing, prototyping, and testing for our custom WordPress sites with occasional contributions to other assets like marketing collateral, branding, and social graphics. You should be able to think on your feet, learn from mistakes quickly, have excellent attention to detail and consistency, communicate fluidly with clients and teammates, and be ready to work at the edge of your comfort zone.

We are seeking contractors to add to our in-house development pool on a project or retainer basis. Scout Digital seeks a self-motivated and results-driven WordPress/PHP Developer who has a passion for creating elegant solutions with clean code.

Reporting directly to the Director of Development, you’ll assist the development department in new site builds, feature requests, internal testing, quality control.

When working for Scout Digital as contractor, you must possess a working knowledge of digital tools and remote work that will allow for seamless integration into our team via our organizational suite of tools.

You should be comfortable with version control (we use GIt/GitHub/Bitbucket), build tools (like Grunt & Gulp) and have deep knowledge of the WordPress core functions and PHP’s native functions. We build performant hand coded websites with as few plugins or options as possible, to maintain the best UX and highest page speeds as possible. Therefore, you should have a deep knowledge of the WordPress loop, WordPress’ template hierarchy, creating custom post types & taxonomies and experience with the REST API. A solid understanding of front-end technologies as a whole is beneficial as well. Scout Digital is a fast-paced environment focused on client success, but this is balanced with the focus on our team members and ensuring their success & continued personal and professional development.   • Building custom WordPress sites with our proprietary theme framework which heavily leverages ACF dynamic content blocks
  • Build efficient, testable, and reusable PHP modules
  • Use clean, consistent, and commented syntax throughout your project and structure your file system according to our standards
  • Integrate with 3rd party API’s and leverage 3rd party JS libraries as needed to create custom features for client projects (think Mapbox.js, Square Developer’s API, etc.)
  • Solve complex performance problems and architectural challenges
  • Manage DNS changes across servers for all manner of operations
  • Manage repos in GitHub or Bitbucket and on our servers
  • Identify and recommend areas of improvement in our products or workflow

This is a full-time position (40hr p/wk) based remotely for Scout Digital located in Burlington, VT.  While this position is remote enabled, we do require a minimum of 4hrs overlap with the business day of EST. Scout Digital seeks a self-motivated and results-driven WordPress/PHP Developer who has a passion for creating elegant solutions with clean code.
