VIP is seeking a Software Engineer 1 with a passion for creating user-friendly applications. The ideal candidate will take great pride in their work and be willing to enhance existing programs by adding features, coding interfaces and fixing software bugs as well as contribute to the development of new projects. This person must be comfortable working closely with a small team and embracing the team commitments.  The ideal candidate will be team focused, self-directed, and able to work with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will have practical programming experience, knowledge of programming best practices, and have the ability to work in a high energy environment. As a Software Engineer you will work in a team to improve the features and stability of existing applications. You will be assigned programming changes identified by our customers and can include enhancements, fixes to bugs, customization of software or interface development (data extracts). Position Type: Full Time, Hybrid - will be required to report to our office in Colchester, VT. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Independently complete well-scoped components from a larger project in a reasonable time frame
  • Collaborate with your team to design, plan, implement and test solutions as well as with other departments to understand application development needs
  • Communicate well with team members and external teams
  • Follow, enhance and contribute to established team processes
  • Continuously seek self-improvement and learning

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or 5 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Programming experience  (RPG, Java/Kotlin, JavaScript/TypeScript)
  • Strong understanding of database concepts and SQL
  • Experience in the creation and maintenance of software
  • Effective oral & written communication
  • Experience with financial applications, business applications, warehouse operations, or data extracts
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to remain on task in a kinetic environment
  • Desire to learn our software and our customer’s business
  • Willing to be on-call support for applications

VIP is looking for an experienced, Mid-Level Developer to join our ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) team. This team is responsible for designing, developing, troubleshooting and maintaining VIP’s ETL applications to ensure that they run smoothly. This position will work under the Lead ETL Developer and learn Datastage job development, as well as create and maintain a data flow from the applicable source to the appropriate database. Position Type: Full Time, Hybrid - will be required to report to our office in Colchester, VT. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Build and update ETL jobs to satisfy requirements
  • Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions
  • Perform basic testing with ETLs to determine data integrity
  • Pursue business knowledge about VIP Data and software applications
Requirements:
  • 2+ years working with IBM InfoSphere Datastage
  • 1+ years of scripting experience (preferably in Python)
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems

In this position, you will create direct connections with new and existing customers, get hands-on experience with project management, and contribute to the growth of our expanding software solutions. No technical background is required; we are prepared to train the right candidate. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Successfully understand VIP Software with the knowledge to install, train, and support VIP customers
  • Provide excellent service to our customers either over the phone, in virtual meetings, or face-to-face
