The Manufacturing Support Specialist is responsible for multiple aspects of sensor manufacturing at the NDI regional office located in Shelburne, Vermont. As a member of the NDS Operations team, responsibilities of this role include operation of various coil winding machines, direct ownership of the shipping and receiving process, and other various duties to support sensor manufacturing. What You Will Be Doing: Coil Winding (80%)
  • Uses extensive knowledge of machine operation and product specifications, to produce coils used in sensor production. Includes set up, operation, and maintenance of coil winding machinery.
  • Assists Manufacturing Manager and Scheduler in producing coils, and self-manages coil inventory to ensure the team meets or exceeds delivery schedules, while keeping on-hand inventory at a minimal level.
Shipping/Receiving (15%)
  • Organizes, controls and maintains the processes required for efficient and effective material movement in and out of NDI Shelburne’s manufacturing facility
    • Daily receiving of incoming goods, including routing and execution of electronic transactions in the ERP system.
    • Physical preparation and shipment of product, including completion of electronic records in the ERP system for both domestic and international customers. Preparation of customs documents for exporting goods, and coordination of adequate and timely shipping with all freight forwarders.
Additional Support (5%)
  • Assists Manufacturing Manager and Scheduler in preparation of Job Travelers & sensor labels needed for weekly production schedules.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy through involvement in monthly cycle-counting activities. May provide in-depth investigation into inventory discrepancies.

  • Effective when workload & priority may be self-directed
  • Experienced in international shipping / receiving processes.
  • Ability to effectively use various software packages (Epicor ERP, FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip)
  • Proven ability to remove roadblocks in the manufacture and test of electronic assemblies, and to approach goals and team objectives with enthusiasm and professionalism;
  • High personal standards for performance excellence.

  • Assembles and solders cables and cable components
  • Required to solder small wires to printed circuit boards
  • Can work most of the day under a high-powered microscope
Performs mechanical assembly of NDI Products
  • Mechanically assembles connectors, enclosures and sub-assemblies
  • Performs encapsulation of electrical components in non-conductive material(s) as required
Performs process control activities relating to product quality and inventory control
  • Visually inspect your own work for complete, error-free assembly
  • Performs basic testing (continuity) of electrical circuits and connections
  • Completes all required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintains point-of-use inventory accurately; requisitions for re-supply as required
Works in a safe manner and engages in good housekeeping practices 
  • Adhere to all required safety practices and standards
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of work area
  • Follows required Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) practices
