BTV – The 5S System: Workplace Organization and Standardization

The fundamental strengths of the 5S Visual System result in a workplace that is clean, uncluttered, safe and well organized to help reduce waste and optimize productivity. Beyond these initial improvements to safety and efficiency, your company can expect that sustaining the methodology of the 5S Visual System will result in quality improvements and workplace control that leads to reduced costs and new capabilities. This learning opportunity delivers fundamental knowledge and skills to support the implementation of a 5S Visual System and Workplace Organization. Participants experience the impact of the methodology and are empowered to deploy learnings into their own area of the business and day-to-day work.

The 5S’s are: 

• Sort through all items and remove those unneeded or questionable items
• Set in order remaining items, set limits, create location indicators
• Shine or clean the workplace and use cleaning as thorough inspection
• Standardize the first three S’s with visual controls
• Sustain the gains through self-discipline and organizational commitment

There is a 6th S in this methodology for Safety which helps provide further focus to ensure that no hazardous items or conditions are overlooked while going through the five stages.

This session will be delivered in two parts: the first portion (four hours) takes place in a classroom style setting followed by an additional four hours (scheduled at a later date and held at your company) where your team will be coached on the 5S methodology.  Join us to achieve more consistent operational results by maintaining an orderly workplace!  Space is limited, register soon!
