The Vice President of Operations reports to the President and CEO, and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) with direct reporting responsibility for Production, Quality, Supply Chain Services, and Technical Services departments. This position holds both internal and external responsibilities and works in collaboration with other members of the ELT, including the Vice Presidents of Global Sales, Marketing and Product Development, Engineering, Finance and Human Resources.
As a member of the ELT, the VP of Operations contributes to the strategic planning and organizational direction setting of the company and supports the execution of strategies developed by the ELT, in line with company values, culture and philosophies.

This position is critical to meeting our company’s growth demands and helping NRG to maintain its leadership position by managing the operational functions of the company and taking a broad view of the organization to ensure growth happens in an organized and profitable way. This position is responsible for the cost, quality, availability and customer satisfaction of the company’s products.

 Responsible for upholding NRG ethics and values to their highest standards, ensuring ethical, socially responsible business practices throughout the company.
 Serve as an active member of the Executive Leadership Team
 Direct the efficient, effective and safe movement of product through the company in partnership with all other departments.
 Design, negotiate and lead business plans involving product and supply relationships.
 Work with the Supply Chain manager and the Production manager to resolve supply chain issues, negotiate vendor contracts, and maintain vendor relationships.
 Drive “Lean” initiatives throughout the company
 Oversee the establishment of continuous improvement through quality initiatives and ensure consistent application of ISO standards
 Oversee the Technical Services department to ensure services are being delivered effectively and efficiently to meet customer service requirements.
 Develop and maintain indicators/KPI’s for all operational areas
 Design and integrate performance metrics and continuous improvement strategies to attain “best in class” supply chain, production, quality and technical services performance
 Establish and deliver financial goals, budgets and operating plans for all operational areas
 Serve on appropriate committees aimed at streamlining the production-ready stage of new product development
 Work closely with Sales and Marketing to ensure alignment between sales plans and operation’s abilities to deliver against customer needs in a timely fashion with minimal lead-time.
 Build strong relationships with internal and external business partners and actively support cross functional initiatives to drive improved overall business performance
 Ensure that effective environment, health and safety policies and procedures are in place and that adequate training occurs.
 Become knowledgeable in and keep up to date on trends in the renewable energy and meteorology industries in order to participate in strategic decisions.
 Work with Human Resources to build our talent to meet growth expectations.
 Provide leadership in mentoring and developing team members that emphasizes the importance of teamwork, collaboration and sharing of information, resources and best practices to maintain a high performing, customer focused operations team
 Represent the company through attendance at business functions, media communications, public speaking and participation on boards and committees on an as needed basis.
 Minimum of a four-year degree in business or a related field
 Seasoned leader with at least 10 years of experience in operations and general management
 Knowledge and experience with lean manufacturing
 Propensity for taking action; solution-focused
 Ability to capture all of the details and extract key points
 Ability to demonstrate key competencies of leadership
 Ability to create a shared vision with the CEO and ELT
 Exceptional communication and teamwork skills
 Aptitude for connecting people of various roles in a way that accomplishes objectives and appreciates each individual’s purpose in the big picture
 Ability to support CEO and proactively communicate on a day to day basis
 Ability to travel as needed (est 20% time)
Working Conditions:
 Work performed in a climate controlled office environment.
 Primarily duties performed in a seated position.
