Senior Mechanical Engineering Technician

POSITION SUMMARY: 

  • At Concepts NREC work with a team of world-class experts in turbomachinery and highly capable support staff on a variety of prototype projects including:
    • Fuel pumps for next-generation rockets
    • Gas turbine engine development rigs
    • Advanced diffuser and turbocharger technology
    • Modular hydroturbines and more.
  • Work with engineers and technicians to assemble and commission Concepts NREC’s products, including our line of Air Dynamometers used for testing gas turbine engines up to 18,000 Hp.
  • Apply your fabrication skills and testing experience to maintain existing products and develop new prototypes.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Coordinate with other technical staff to complete hardware assembly activities and prototype testing.
  • Fabricate and assemble development and production rigs and equipment.
  • Calibrate and install instrumentation.
  • Independently conduct routine acceptance and performance testing.
  • Support engineering staff in commissioning new test facilities and conduct various testing activities as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education: The ideal candidate should have a mechanical engineering in technology degree or relevant technical degree
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in prototyping, hardware fabrication and assembly. Experience with rotating equipment, and electrical/hydraulics is a plus.
  • Other job requirements: Engineering in Technology degree or certification as an FAA certified airframe and power plant technician, or equivalent professional experience.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in prototyping, hardware fabrication and assembly.
