The Technology Group at Vermont Systems is comprised of the Product Management, Engineering, QA, and Hosting departments who function as a collaborative unit to deliver delightful product functionality and technical solutions to Parks and Recreation communities across the globe. Our Payments Team partners closely with our Support department to deliver a delightful end-to-end payment and reconciliation experience for our clients and their patrons.

We are looking for a product manager with a love for building top-notch products who is creative, collaborative, business-minded, and detail-oriented. The product manager will have the opportunity to develop software in a rapidly expanding payments space in a highly sought-after industry for an established leader in the market.

This position spans two disciplines: 1) Product Manager and 2) Payments Program Manager. The duality of this role is designed to:

  • Promote comprehensive product understanding and ownership of the Payments solutions offered by Vermont Systems products and brands.
  • Work within the Product Management Department to develop product strategy and provide tactical product direction related to payment processing.
  • Liaise within the development organization taking point on providing actionable information to the development teams and participating across development methodology ceremonies.
  • Work with the Operations group to assist with payment processing and reconciliation troubleshooting when required.
  • Monitor the Vermont Systems Payments solutions and report to the Vermont Systems Executive Team on profitability, risk management, and new opportunities for Vermont Systems in the payments space.


Responsibilities & Duties

  • Be comfortable at the intersection of user experience, technology, and business.
  • Market & Competitive Intelligence – Be the expert on the competitive landscape for Vermont Systems payment solutions identifying and executing unique opportunities to gain market share and serve Vermont Systems clients.
  • Product Strategy – Understand, distill, and communicate payment industry requirements and trends as they relate to products and services offered by Vermont Systems into high-level product strategy documentation.
  • Product Roadmap – Identify market opportunities through customer research (both internal and external) that creates a compelling product roadmap that delivers the highest ROI features.
  • Manage Backlog & Releases – Make sure the highest ROI projects are moved forward in priority order. Moderate and participate in idea shaping, business requirements reviews, sizing and prioritization activities. Work with development teams to distill business/functional requirements into actionable information (Ideas, Epics, Stories, etc.) and persist into various requirements tracking systems.
  • Product Positioning & Messaging – Liase with Sales & Marketing to position and market products effectively against the competition. Create messaging content for a variety of channels that is both compelling and differentiated.
  • Collaboration – Thrive in dynamic and collaborative development environment and work self-directed with a strong bias for action. Possess intimate familiarity with the product and features related to payments; conducting product demos to internal and external clients. Act as the primary liaison between Vermont Systems engineering and support teams and our partner vendors for payment processing
  • Culture of Learning – Lead definition, measurement, and reporting of team KPIs/OKRs, and payments program KPIs/OKRs. Lead effort for continuous improvement and sustainment of team processes and payments industry awareness. Assist in leading development team meetings and ceremonies.



  • 4+ years experience in product management in a SaaS/web application or equivalent experience in the payments industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in effectively communicating concepts in both verbal and written form while providing enough detail so that key pieces of functionality are not overlooked.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously, while keeping up with critical details to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Knowledge of Shape Up, and Agile software development methodologies preferred
  • Experience collaborating with team members to create technical documentation and training materials for Internal/External Stakeholders
  • Extensive experience leading collaboration efforts with third-party vendor/partners, customers, operations staff, and technical staff.
  • Deep understanding of the Payments Industry as it relates to Card Present and eCommerce Payment processing.
  • Familiarity with Progress OpenEdge ABL is a plus
  • PCI Compliance experience is a plus
  • Technical degree or relevant certification preferred

Additional Job Details

  • Full Time Salaried position
  • Hours are primarily 8a – 5pm Eastern Monday – Friday with infrequent off-hour rotation in support of Vermont Systems product releases and on-call staff (evenings, weekends/holidays).
