Concepts NREC is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Technician

 

POSITION SUMMARY: 

  • Work with a team of world-class experts in turbomachinery and highly capable support staff on a variety of prototype projects include fuel pumps for the next-generation rockets, gas turbine engine development rigs, advanced diffuser technology, innovative turbocharger technology, modular hydroturbines and more. Work with engineers and technicians to assemble and commission Concepts NREC’s products, including the air dynamometers used for testing gas turbine engines up to 18,000 Hp. Learn fabrication skills and gain testing experience to maintain existing products and develop new prototypes.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Coordinate with other technical staff to complete hardware assembly activities and prototype testing.
  • Fabricate and assemble development and production rigs and equipment.
  • Calibrate and install instrumentation.
  • Conduct routine acceptance and performance testing.
  • Support engineering staff in commissioning new test facilities and conduct various testing activities as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Education: The ideal candidate will have a mechanical engineering in technology degree, automotive technology degree or relevant technical degree or equivalent professional experience in a similar industry.  We may also consider certain technical certifications in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience: Knowledge of prototyping and hardware fabrication and assembly. Experience with rotating equipment is a plus.  On the job training available.
  • Other job requirements: Mechanical aptitude is a must! Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Basic Qualifications

  • Mechanical engineering in technology degree, automotive technology degree or relevant technical degree or equivalent professional experience in a similar industry. (May also consider certain technical certifications in lieu of a degree.)
  • Knowledge of prototyping and hardware fabrication and assembly.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be a US citizen or green card holder.
