Coordinate and process specialized human resource processes for units within the University of Vermont’s College of Agriculture & Life Sciences (CALS), including five academic departments and Extension. Provide specialized support for staff recruitments, position changes and terminations; review and submit position description changes, maintain personnel records. Interpret and communicate applicable policies and procedures to faculty and staff supervisors, and employees, including having a thorough understanding of the UVM SU Contract. Use or disclose sensitive information within the framework of UVM’s and CALS’ guidelines . Understand and council the supervisors, faculty, and staff regarding work across campus with various departments, such as Payroll, Labor and Employee Relations, and Office of International Education to ensure CALS human resource practices are in line with University policies and procedures. Provide assistance to first line of support to staff on human resource related inquiries and needs. Serve on CALS HR team, responsible for providing input to the CALS HR Administrator , implementing, and overseeing HR operational systems for the college. Contribute to and provide support to HR Administrator in the development and implementation of HR systems, processes, and procedures to improve equity, accuracy, and efficiency. Participate in Central HR meetings to stay current with changing HR and Union policies and procedures. Report to the HR Administrator

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field and three years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in an administrative setting required. Proficiency with software applications used to support office functions, and familiarity with internet resources required. Effective organizational, interpersonal, communication and writing skills required. Attention to detail and accuracy. Demonstrated ability to discern and maintain confidential information required.
