BETA Technologies is expanding its footprint in the North Country with the announcement of a new $41 million addition to its facility at the Plattsburgh International Airport.

The electric aerospace company said it will develop a new, upgraded facility to serve as the manufacturing and final assembly hub for its all-electric aircraft.

The company will also use the new facility as the permanent test flight and aircraft delivery center for its operations in the region.

BETA has pledged to create 85 full-time jobs at the facility in exchange for a $20 million grant from Clinton County through the Empire State Development Regional Economic and Community Assistance Program.

Mark Henry, Chairman of the Clinton County Legislature, said in a statement, “Clinton County has been steadfast in supporting economic growth and workforce development, particularly in regard to the transportation manufacturing cluster. On behalf of the Clinton County Legislature, I extend my sincere gratitude to Governor Hochul for her commitment to supporting the County’s endeavor to partner with BETA Technologies to build this state-of-the-art green aeronautical campus.”

BETA Technologies acknowledges the support from New York State and Clinton County, emphasizing the strong workforce and track record of support for the next generation of transportation.

BETA Technologies collaborates with local educational organizations, including C-V Tech, to train individuals for manufacturing jobs with the company. With this investment, officials are exploring new learning programs to further enhance skills development.

Director of Career and Technical Education at C-V Tech, Michele Friedman, stated, “We are looking to work outside of the box with our current CTE classes and look at these accelerated pathways and transferrable skills through this investment.”
