Working with Codingscape

Codingscape is seeking Senior Backend Engineers to join a high-impact, embedded team accelerating modernization efforts for a fast-scaling client (minimum 6 month engagement). You’ll help bring clarity to legacy systems while also contributing to the greenfield build of a shared platform used across various products. This is a hands-on, client-embedded role focused on designing and building the backend foundation that enables fast, secure, and scalable product development.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first few months, you’ll:

• Audit and document backend systems to identify risk and technical debt
• Refactor legacy PHP and Golang code into modular, maintainable services
• Establish automated tests and CI/CD pipelines for consistent deployments
• Introduce scalable infrastructure patterns (e.g., multi-node deployments, load balancing)
• Increase endpoint reliability for frontend teams using React, Vue.js, and Cocos
• Build shared backend platform services (e.g., authentication, payments, transaction management) that can be abstracted away from specific applications
• Demonstrate independent decision-making and architectural judgment from day one

Must Have:

• Senior-level GoLang expertise—this is the primary language for platform services
• Deep familiarity with backend architecture and microservices patterns
• Experience modernizing legacy systems and reducing tech debt
• Infrastructure fluency (Docker, cloud services, load balancing, deployment pipelines)
• Ability to ramp quickly and work autonomously within a cross-functional team●
• Platform mindset—building reusable services for consumption by other teams

Good to Have:

• Experience with MySQL (Postgres exposure acceptable)
• API Gateway experience—any is fine, but KrakenD is a plus
• Experience working in embedded client environments
• CI/CD expertise (CircleCI, GitHub Actions, or similar)
• Cloud experience—AWS preferred; Azure/GCP is acceptable if comfortable picking up AWS
• PHP familiarity (we’re upgrading from legacy PHP systems)
• Strong documentation habits and systems thinking
• Comfort with independently identifying opportunities for value and taking initiative without needing prescriptive tasks

You’ll spend your time:

• Refactoring monolithic code into scalable, service-oriented architectures
• Designing and implementing shared backend services
• Conducting performance analysis and backend stress testing
• Collaborating with cross functional teams to ensure seamless backend integration
• Supporting high-velocity onboarding and migration of systems to the new platform
• Creating onboarding documentation and strategies to reduce ramp time
