As a team member of Strategic Communications assigned to the UVM Career Center, provide a broad array of communications and marketing support to the Career Center to advance the Center’s mission in alignment with university-wide strategic communications activities. Represent the interests of the Career Center in planning and execution of university-wide communications and marketing activities. Develop, implement, and evaluate the marketing of event and career resources for UVM students; manage the Career Center’s online presence, social media account(s), and coordinate communications through the Handshake career services platform; produce a variety of print and digital media and marketing products; collaborate with divisional and university colleagues. Recruit and supervise student staff. Conduct promotional outreach directly and through student staff; represent the Career Center at events. Support and promote a safe and growth-focused environment for students and staff of all races, ethnicities, religious and national origins, gender and sexual orientations, abilities and ages. Support the mission and philosophy of the Career Center and Strategic Communications, raising awareness of each group by the other.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications or a related area with two to three years’ professional experience in a marketing or communications-related position required. Knowledge of marketing and communications principles including research, publicity, promotions, traditional and social media, materials production, and related technology required. Effective organizational, administrative, written and verbal communications skills required. Comfort with and demonstrated commitment to multicultural competence and to fostering a collaborative environment is required. Ability to operate independently or as part of a team with equal success.
Desirable Qualifications
Proficiency within a Mac environment, using Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, and Drupal is highly desirable. Familiarity with social media platforms and trends. Experience with career or student development practice and working with/supervising students highly desirable.
