As a Windows Systems Engineer at FirstLight, you’ll have the opportunity to work with an array of technologies and diverse network environments. Our customers range from large ISPs and SaaS infrastructure providers to some of the largest retailers and manufacturers in the world. You will get the opportunity to work with some of the newest software including SolarWinds, PRTG, Powershell APIs, MS SQL, and many more. FirstLight offers monitoring hardware, software, and services, to help companies harness the potential of their networks. We are customer focused and committed to providing a superior customer experience.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Excellent customer service ability
  • Understanding of basic TCP/IP networking
  • Windows server administration experience (Strong)
  • Ability to assemble, test, and troubleshoot server hardware
  • Scripting or programming language experience in one of the following: Batch, Powershell, Python
  • Monitoring tool experience such as Nagios, Cacti, PRTG, SolarWinds, etc.
  • Ability to manage long term projects involving multiple teams and key players

Bonus Technical Skills:

  • Database administation (MySQL, postgreSQL, ect)
  • SNMP monitoring or development experience
  • Linux server administration


  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues
  • Deal with customers from initial contact to resolution
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows monitoring services
  • Perform duties using industry standards and our internal operating procedures
  • Work on site with customers in their environment daily
  • Report results and issues to the customer and project leadership


  • College degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience (5+ years)
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills (English)
  • Proven organizational, time management and follow-up skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Dedicated to customer service
  • Willingness to learn new technologies
  • Occasional after hours support engagements
  • The candidate must be a US Citizen or permanent resident
