Enable University students and the community at large to access a broad range of information resources. Maintain and develop web assets in PHP/Drupal environment at UVM. Serve on Libraries’ Technology and UX teams and collaborate with the institution’s central web team to improve customer experience. Customize and implement user-centered, accessible web interfaces on a wide variety of locally hosted and cloud-based applications and platforms to include Libraries’ websites and third-party databases and products while maintaining maximum usability and accessibility for users of all abilities. Work closely with the University Web Team to ensure that the library websites conform to university guidelines. Author custom web apps to interface with APIs and to extend UVM CMS capabilities. Participate in the management and installation of web-based applications, gather, and analyze usage data, and implement usability testing to inform interface changes. Serve as the web specialist on the User Experience (UX) Group, participate in system-wide technology planning and decision-making under the Systems Librarian’s direction, and act as a backup systems administrator.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)        

Bachelor’s degree and two to four years’ related experience to include designing and coding websites required. Comprehensive knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript required. Experience with Drupal or other CMS. Working knowledge of PHP required.

Desirable Qualifications              

Experience designing and conducting usability tests, accessibility standards as defined by WCAG, XML and XST, and Java Frameworks like REACT. Experience with frontend frameworks like Bootstrap and GitHub or other versioning platforms. Working knowledge of Linux operating system.

Other Information         

The individual in this position may be on call after hours for emergencies. Some upgrades, changes, and repair will occur on holidays and/or weekends, before 8am, or after midnight.
