The Vice President of Operations reports directly to the President and is a member of NRG’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT) with direct reporting responsibility for the Production, Quality, Supply Chain Services, and Logistics departments. This position holds both internal and external responsibilities and works in collaboration with other members of the ELT, including the Vice Presidents of Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Finance and Human Resources.

As a member of the ELT, the VP of Operations contributes to strategic planning and organizational direction setting of the company and supports the execution of strategies developed by the ELT, in line with company values, culture and philosophies. 

This position is critical to meeting our company’s profitable growth forecasts and helping NRG to maintain its leadership position by managing the operational functions of the company while considering the broader view of the whole organization. This position is responsible for the cost, quality, lead time and customer satisfaction of the company’s products.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Responsible for upholding NRG ethics and values to their highest standards, ensuring ethical, socially responsible business practices throughout the company.
  • Define and implement the Operational Strategy & Plan to support consistent YoY double digit revenue growth while meeting profitability goals.
  • Manage the inventory level to specific goals.
  • Selectively utilize outsourcing to support the production plan.
  • Serve as an active member of the Executive Leadership Team
  • Design, negotiate and lead business plans involving product and supply relationships.
  • Work with the Supply Chain Manager and the Director of Production to drive cost reduction per agreed upon goals.
  • Oversee continuous quality improvement initiatives and ensure consistent application of ISO standards
  • Develop and maintain indicators/KPI’s for all operational areas to drive towards “best in class” performance
  • Establish and deliver financial goals, budgets and operating plans for all operational areas
  • Streamline the industrialization of new products
  • Work closely with Sales and Marketing to align sales plans and operational abilities
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external business partners and actively support cross functional initiatives to drive improved overall business performance
  • Ensure that effective environment, health and safety policies and procedures are in place and that adequate training occurs.
  • Understand and follow trends in the renewable energy and meteorology industries to participate in strategic decisions.
  • Work with Human Resources to build operations talent to meet growth expectations.
  • Lead and mentor team members emphasizing teamwork and collaboration
  • Represent the company at tradeshows, conferences, and media communications.


  • Minimum of a four-year degree in business or a related field, MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in operations & operations management with a technical product line
  • Exhibited history of meeting specific goals including, but not limited to financial metrics
  • A true selfless player: “company before team, team before self”
  • Experience in scaling up a manufacturing operation
  • Hands on knowledge and experience with global outsourcing
  • Exceptional communication and teamwork skills
  • Aptitude for connecting with people at all levels in the organization to accomplishes objectives
  • Ability to create a shared vision with the President and ELT
  • Ability to support President and proactively communicate on a day-to-day basis
  • Ability to travel as needed up to 20%

Working Conditions:

  • Work performed in a climate-controlled office environment.
  • Primarily duties performed in a seated position.
  • Travel as required including internationally to support strategies, plans and goals.
