Posting Summary            

Reporting to the Vice Provost for Student Affairs, the Strategic Initiatives and DEI Coordinator (SIDC) leads strategic initiatives for the Division of Student Affairs (DOSA), from initiation through implementation or hand-off. The SIDC works closely with senior leaders within DOSA and across UVM to identify needs, research industry best practices and innovative approaches to emergent trends, partner with internal and external stakeholders to devise action plans, assess initiatives, report on progress, and prepare and coordinate related communications. This position is responsible for subject matter expertise and advancing DOSA’s strategic and philosophical commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) including guiding efforts and creating opportunities to define, operationalize, assess, and promote DEIB within the division to enhance student and staff experiences.

 

This position represents the VPSA and DOSA by serving on ad hoc and standing committees, including with internal stakeholders and with external vendors or constituents. Develops, maintains, and assesses vendor relationships and services critical to the student experience.

 

Responsible for promoting an inclusive environment and experience for students and staff of all races, ethnicities, religions, national origins, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and ages. Responsible for supporting the mission, philosophies, and priorities of DOSA and UVM.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)        

Master’s degree in a relevant field and three to five years’ related experience. Must be highly organized, analytical, and resourceful with substantial project management experience. Must have proven expertise in strategic diversity, equity, inclusion planning and implementation. Effective verbal, written, and visual communication skills are required. Must be multiculturally competent with demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, and fostering a collaborative, inclusive environment. This position requires confidentiality and sensitivity.

Desirable Qualifications              

Project management certification. Experience working within higher education.
