VIP is seeking a Software Engineer with a passion for creating user-friendly applications. VIP Software Engineers work with our existing suite of software applications. Software Engineers are responsible for creating new programs, enhancing existing programs by adding features, coding interfaces and fixing software bugs. This person must be comfortable working closely with a small team and embracing the team commitments. The ideal candidate will be team focused, self-directed, and able to work with minimal supervision.
The successful candidate will have practical programming experience, knowledge of programming best practices, and have the ability to work in a high energy environment. As a Software Engineer you will work in a team to improve the features and stability of existing applications. You will be assigned programming changes identified by our customers and can include enhancements, fixes to bugs, customization of software or interface development (data extracts).
Position Type: Full Time, Hybrid – will be required to report to our office in Colchester, VT.

- Independently complete well-scoped components from a larger project in a reasonable time frame
- Collaborate with your team to design, plan, implement and test solutions as well as with other departments to understand application development needs

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or 5 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Programming experience (RPG, Java/Kotlin, JavaScript/TypeScript)
- Strong understanding of database concepts and SQL
- Experience in the creation and maintenance of software
- Effective oral & written communication
- Experience with financial applications, business applications, warehouse operations, or data extracts
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to remain on task in a kinetic environment
- Desire to learn our software and our customer’s business
- Willing to be on-call support for applications
