Provide leadership, direction, data expertise, and assessment knowledge to enhance and support data-based decision-making at the University of Vermont. Proactively create analytical reports that will aid UVM in meeting its strategic goals and mission of teaching, research, and service. Extract, gather, rectify, organize, maintain, analyze, interpret, project, report, and distribute findings in support of the academic and fiscal management, planning, policy, and reporting activities of the University as a whole and of its multiple components. Provide leadership in collecting and submitting federally mandated student and course related data for the federal higher education database, IPEDS. Perform one-time projects that require significant project planning and definition in addition to the related data gathering, analysis, and reporting functions. Train, teach, and inform data stewards and end users proper data hygiene. Report to the Executive Director of Institutional Research and Assessment.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and five to six years’ related experience required. Knowledge of statistics, research methodology, and survey research required. Technology skills including PC and mainframe applications with emphasis on statistical and spreadsheet software. Experience with relational databases mandatory. Experience in data related activities of a complex organization using multiple data bases required. Effective analytical and communication skills required.
