NRG Systems
The Quality Specialist will support NRG’s company-wide quality systems. This position requires a high level of technical understanding of a wide range of testing and measurement processes which are used in verification and validation of manufactured products. The Quality Specialist will oversee and maintain quality system processes and documentation. This person’s area of responsibility will include inspection, calibration and verification testing. Findings will be communicated to affected departments and suppliers for use in continuous improvement and corrective action activities.
The Quality Specialist is a full-time position in the Quality department and reports to the Quality Manager. This person will work under the technical direction of the Quality Manager and in partnership with the Operations and Engineering teams to achieve the department goals that are in line with the company strategic plan and the high standards of NRG ethics and core values.
Primary Responsibilities:
- This person works with the guidance of the Quality Manager and with both defined and conceptual products, processes and services to participate and support in several key quality systems including:
- Receiving Inspection (RIS) processes
- First Article Inspection (FAI) system
- Calibration Program
- Manufacturing Acceptance Plans
- Controlled Document Center (CDC)
- Nonconforming Products
- Continuous Improvement Teams (CIT)
- Internal Audits
- New employee orientation
- Corrective Action (CAR)
- Conduct periodic reviews of above named QUA processes; audit & observe for control of process, documents & records; identify areas of improvement, efficiency, accuracy and strength
- Assume a lead auditor role on the Internal Audit team
- Assist in the development & management of QUA department initiatives
- Raise issues to Leadership as warranted to address special, critical, or quality concerns; participate in resolution actions
- Educate & instruct personnel in quality systems; act as an information source
- Consult with Leadership on operational improvements
- Oversee overdue CDC document approval reports; notify & work with personnel involved
- Perform product / material inspections using gauges, jigs, microscope, instruments, micrometers
- Verify and reconcile inspection results to specification and acceptance criteria
- Assume the lead role in the preparation, distribution and filing of inspection records
- Assist in data collection, compiling, and presentation of conclusions related to quality

Qualifications:
- Two-year Technical degree plus 6 years of equivalent experience or Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years equivalent technical/manufacturing experience; Electro-mechanical focus preferred
- Understanding of an ISO certified manufacturing environment
- Knowledgeable of Lean principles
- Experience with methods of mechanical inspection; use of measuring tools including: calipers, gage pins, height gages
- Know-how with a broad range of electronic testing equipment
- Ability to work independently, self-motivated with minimal direct supervision
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- Expertise with Quality role and processes
- First-class interpersonal skills with ability to interview, audit and communicate findings
- Proficiency with MS Office: word, excel, outlook, Great Plains
- IPC 610A and J-STD certified
- Excellent time management skills to execute multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with consideration to tight deadlines, juggling multiple department priorities, and resource constraints
