Preventative Maintenance Technician

This person at Chroma supports the work of the Vacuum Coating group by performing regular preventive maintenance, chamber cleanings, and maintaining related hardware and equipment.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Clean vacuum coating chambers and related components per established written procedures
  • Remove components and clean using appropriate method and equipment
  • Reassemble equipment to precise dimensions
  • Identify needed repairs, wear on parts, and other service needs
  • Clean and service tooling and other related components
  • Monitor performance of ancillary equipment and service
  • Works with Coating Groups and Maintenance Team to maintain appropriate service schedule
  • Monitor supplies related to work and requisition
  • Appropriately document work in relevant logs
  • Perform general repairs on equipment
  • Maintain orderly, clean equipment and work space
  • Assist Coating Technicians with general tasks as needed to support production

Qualifications:

  • Able to lift at least 75 lbs. regularly
  • Previous experience with vacuum system maintenance preferred
  • Basic mechanical and electrical skills
  • Self-starter, detail oriented, independent worker
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent organizational skills with a proven ability to maintain the physical cleanliness of the workspace.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a history of satisfying internal customers. Not only able to perform assigned tasks successfully, but keep customers informed of changing situations.
  • Excellent work ethic and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively with all individuals/groups within the organization

 

Physical Requirements: 

 

  • Enter data into computer systems and/or produce documents, typically utilizing a computer keyboard
  • Close vision for product inspection and computer work
  • Regular, predictable attendance to meet production demands
  • Ability to sit and/or stand at work station for extended periods of time
  • Ability to secure equipment, typically by hand or utilizing hand tools that require wrist rotation
  • Ability to work with hands above head level for up to 15 minutes at a time while cleaning chambers
  • Ability to regularly use a ladder
  • Auditory
  • Ability to bend/kneel and crawl

 

Work Environment: 

            

  • Chroma is a fast-paced, collaborative, high tech manufacturing environment
  • Up to 40% of the work is performed in a clean room which requires wearing a lab coat, hair net, dedicated shoes, gloves and a beard net when applicable
  • The remainder of the work is performed in the bead blast room where hearing protection is recommended
  • This role routinely uses bead blasting and other abrasive and laser cleaning equipment
