Your Role:

Responsible for OEM Account satisfaction, OEM revenue (profitable and increasing) and contributing to the development of OEM strategy:

Account Managers create, retain and mature long term relationships with new and existing OEM customers and stakeholders in the field of optical filters.  Depending upon individual skill sets,

Account Managers increase the number and value of accounts, as well as drive expansion into other markets, thereby increasing sales and profits.

Accounts managers take an active role in formulating OEM strategy.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • EM account satisfaction:
    1. Provide quotes for OEM customers to meet their specifications/needs
      • Work closely with applications, design and methods  to ensure the filter design and specification are optimal for the application, and cost effective, while providing a barrier to entry against competition
    2. Maintain relationships with clients by:
      • provide support, information, and guidance to customers
      • keep customers apprise of new products and capabilities
      • act as liaison between the customer and other key departments at Chroma
        • Assist in resolving product and service problems by acting as liaison between QA and customer as needed, and participating in trouble shooting
  • Increase profitable revenue from OEM accounts.
    1. As a group, participate in market research, and assist in developing marketing, advertising and promotional plans and budgets (including OEM tradeshow schedule)
      • Participate in literature and web-site development
    2. Develop product lines for particular applications
    3. Actively seek out new leads, open new markets
    4. Use reporting and analytical tool for monitoring key accounts
    5. Use tradeshows to:
      • Educate customer on offerings (products, capabilities, service)
      • Engage new customers
      • Strengthen relationships with current customers
      • Learn about market trends from other professionals
    6. As a group Map the interplay of companies within the markets of interest – who owns whom, sub-contracts to whom
  • Advocate for and participate in OEM sales strategy development via conversations with Sales Manager and Sales teams.
  • Participate in the development of, and adherence to, prototype and volume pricing mechanisms for OEM accounts.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by reading publications and attending lectures and workshops that are relevant to the product and markets of interest.
  • At least once per year, act as tradeshow owner, establishing and achieving show goals.
  • If not stationed full time at Chroma Bellow Falls, take pains to maintain integrated relationship with pertinent team and department members, including at least semi-annual trips to HQ, encompassing at least 10 working days per year.
  • Travel for tradeshows and/or customer visits six or more times per year.



  • Practical to extensive knowledge of filter manufacturing, design, underlying science and technologies, and applications (including fluorescent phenomena)
  • 5-10 years of technical sales and/or support experience and experience in the optics industry required.
  • Undeniable ability to produce while working unsupervised
  • Demonstrated ability to grow business
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field (biology, chemistry, physics or engineering)
  • Able to assimilate and apply new information quickly
  • Highly developed decision making and problem resolution abilities
  • Take charge attitude
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Excellent customer service skills; friendly, outgoing individual
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and be a contributory team member.
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Familiar with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Excellent internal communication skills.
  • Able to travel as required for the position.
  • Second language helpful: German, Japanese, Mandarin, etc.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work effectively with all individuals/groups within the organization
