This position is for a fabrication process engineer with experience in process development, unconventional problem solving and manufacturing scale-up. Demonstrated success with complex microfabrication processes that were rapidly developed is a plus. This position will be responsible for the development of processes to enable the production of wafer-based optical components.  Interaction with tool vendors in both process definition and process-flow integration is a key part of the job.

  • Required Qualifications:

    • Masters or PhD Degree and 6+ years of experience, or,

    • BS with 12+ years of experience

    • Microfabrication process methods and tools, process modeling, design of experiment

    • Experience in cleanroom operations including tool maintenance and tool scheduling

    • Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States. (We do not sponsor employment visas).

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Mastery of photoresist coat, PVD and CVD, RIE and ECP etch

    • Optical lithography and Nanoimprint lithography

    • Proficiency in process modeling software and DOE

    • Tool and process assessment/de-bug and scale-up problem solving

    • Background in laser optics and/or optical design a plus


  • Developing, improving, analyzing, integrating and scaling microfabrication processes for microsystems and microoptics at various stages of product development

  • Analyzing and troubleshooting existing fabrication Process of Record for micro- and nano-fabrication with a variety of materials and outcomes

  • In-process and QA/QC metrology and characterization in lab development and production  environments

  • Work with vendors to define and refine tool functionality pre- and post- acquisition providing a range of support within expertise to the entire product development team
