Who You Are
 
THINKMD is looking for a consulting Manuscript Writer for approximately 15-20 hours per month to assist THINKMD’s Research and Impact team with the drafting, editing, finalization, and submission of manuscripts to appropriate peer-reviewed journals. You will work with the Research and Impact Lead and Data Team members to generate successfully submitted peer-reviewed manuscripts highlighting analysis and impact of THINKMD’s application use and associated data.
 
In this role you will:
  • Work with the team to understand the research or implementation project (Consultancy Onboarding)
  • Review the data analysis of the project to date
  • Identify appropriate peer-review journal to submit the specific research content
  • Outline the objectives of the manuscript
  • Outline manuscript content based on sections for the selected journal
  • Identify visualizations to support the objectives of the manuscript
  • Review and agree upon key points for each section with team members
  • Write the first draft of manuscripts and manage edits provided by team members
  • Complete final draft of manuscript
Writing Samples: Please submit at least 2 writing samples along with your application or proposal, preferably sections of a published manuscript or grant application. 

 

Requirements

  • Masters level degree
  • Writing experience (technical, research-specific, translation)
  • Research experience (design, implementation)
  • Data Analysis and Interpretation (interpretation of data from visualization to language)
  • Preferred area of focus/expertise: Public Health, Global Health, Sociology, Anthropology, Medical Anthropology, Biology, Medicine
  • Previous success submitting peer-reviewed manuscripts
  • Desire to improve health care globally and advocate for health equity
  • Strong belief in knowledge sharing
  • Flexible schedule/availability
