Our team of professionals at the Northern Digital Inc. (NDI) office located in Shelburne, Vermont are currently recruiting for a Component Engineer with experience in product design, assembly and testing.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

NDI in Shelburne, Vermont is looking for an experienced Component Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering team. In this role, you will be providing expertise in the design, assembly, and testing of components to make sure they meet product specifications for quality performance and reliability. Your experience and knowledge will be prized in the early development of new products and the continued sustainability of products used the world over. This role will be working with multiple teams and disciplines having a significant focus on electronic components and their implementation in our designs, with contributions in mechanical and optical materials and components.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Source, Qualify, and Document components and material for use in NDI Products.
  • Co-ordinate the release of components and materials via ECO to our manufacturing and supply Chain teams.
  • Be an active voice in design reviews providing component analysis and risk assessments for new designs.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure designs are not single sourced.
  • Develop and execute test plans to evaluate components and the assembly that implements them.
  • Review BoMs for End of Life components or Supply Chain delays

What You’ll Bring To The Role:

  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of related professional experience
  • Thorough understanding of Electronic Design.
  • Ability to read, understand and modify electrical schematic drawings
  • Knowledge of industry regulations (REACH, ROHS, 61010 and IEC 60601 Standards).
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Good personal organization as well as written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to read, understand and modify mechanical drawings

Desire Characteristics/Additional Assets:

  • Exposure to, and understanding of, project management basics and core-team based product development.
  • System design and development
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical commodities and their supply chain challenges
  • Working knowledge of Altium ECAD, CREO MCAD
  • Experience in ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality systems
