As a member of the senior leadership team of the Dean of the University of Vermont Graduate College, serves as primary financial and human resources advisor to the Dean and as business operations lead for Graduate College – a university-wide unit whose Dean both reports to Provost and serves on President’s Cabinet. Manages Graduate College’s complex financial resources and mid- to long-range financial planning, as well as human resources and general business operations, in alignment with the strategic direction provided by the Dean and unit and institutional priorities. Prioritizes efficiency, compliance, and responsible resource management. Serves as liaison with central HR and works directly with Graduate College staff on HR matters, including performance management, recruiting, retention, and staffing transition planning and processes; and policy interpretation and compliance. Manages complex budgets, contracts, and grant administration, coordinating with departmental staff, Colleges and Schools, and central administrative offices. Oversees and performs data management and data analytics functions for Graduate College. Advises and briefs the Dean on fiscal and business operations, using standard and specialized software applications. Serves as a point of contact to ensure that GC has the necessary processes, training, coordination, and oversight in place to successfully partner with the central support resources. Represents Graduate College on institutional committees and to internal and external constituents, addressing inquiries, interpreting and communicating complex policy, procedural, or organizational information, and providing guidance, advice, or mediation specific to area of expertise and consistent with divisional and institutional guidelines. Supports promoting an inclusive environment and experience for GC staff, students, faculty, and other stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)         

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related area and five to six years’ related experience required. Proficient business and finance skills required, to include budget management, coordination, and analysis experience. Human resource and employee relations experience required. Demonstrable ability to actively engage in developing and implementing business processes that promote and support equity and inclusion required. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to interact with diverse individuals and groups at all organizational levels. Effective organizational, project management, data analysis & documentation, and problem-solving skills and ability to operate in a complex and fast-paced environment required. Ability to exercise discretion in disclosure of sensitive/confidential information required. Proficiency with productivity software, including MS Office suite, with intermediate to advanced knowledge of spreadsheet applications required.

Desirable Qualifications

Familiarity with enterprise HR and financial software such as PeopleSoft and PeopleAdmin. Experience working in Higher Education.
