Who You Are

This Business Development role will manage THINKMD’s commercial efforts with government donors. You’ll join a dynamic and scrappy commercial team committed to THINKMD’s mission and improving access to healthcare around the world. We’re creative and curious in our approach, constantly looking for novel ways to partner and bring our products to market. You will be exposed to all aspects of the company and will be expected to engage across our teams to bring opportunities and partnerships to fruition. We attract self-directed team players who can see the larger picture while executing the discrete tasks that make big goals achievable.

This primary focus of the role will be to analyze markets, identify ideal target partners, conduct outreach, build relationships, and generate commercial opportunities in the government and donor sector that enable THINKMD to distribute our solution to more users and increase the company’s impact.  The secondary focus of this role will be to help develop philanthropic partnerships to complement and provide catalytic funding for research, technology partnerships, and adoption of THINKMD’s solutions and services. You are highly organized, a strong verbal and written communicator, and both solutions and detail oriented.

The Business Development Director will serve as a key member of THINKMD’s Business Development team and bring a depth of experience navigating government and donor players in the international development and/or global health space. This role requires prior experience, established sector relationships and a track record of delivering commercial results with government or donor clients. A history of success in grant and proposal writing will be critical.

In this role you will:

  • Analyze government and donor sectors to establish ideal target funding and programmatic partners for THINKMD

  • Conduct outreach, foster and build new relationships and partnerships

  • Establish and grow a pipeline of commercial opportunities for THINKMD and manage deals from initial inquiry to close; opportunities may include implementation projects, funding, and technical or research initiatives

  • Identify, pursue and acquire promising opportunities through direct client engagement, crafting proposals and grant application submissions

  • Support the Business Development team in developing creative philanthropic partnerships that will complement USAID and other government funding

  • Collaborate across the wider THINKMD team; help serve as the voice of partners and funders in the government and donor sectors



Your Skills & Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience securing government contracts, primarily from USAID and USAID-funded partners but experience with other government donors (e.g., USAID, FCDO, Global Affairs Canada, etc.) is a plus

  • Deep knowledge of USAID, its current strategy, opportunity pipeline, and key USAID-funded partners

  • Background, passion and strong existing networks in and understanding of global health and/or international development

  • Demonstrated success in assessing, identifying, and winning new commercial opportunities in the government sector

  • Deep knowledge of global donor and philanthropic communities (especially the global health space) and a successful track record of acquiring competitive grant or project funding from donors

  • Outstanding writing ability with a track record of developing well-crafted LOIs and proposals and working across teams and with partner organizations to frame proposed projects in a compelling fashion

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with exceptional capability to communicate and build relationships across cultural, ethnic, and geographic boundaries

  • ​Experience living and working overseas in low and middle-income countries (LMICs)

  • Ability to travel 20% of the time

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM software
