The Administrative Business Service Center (ABSC) at the University of Vermont (UVM) is a shared service center that provides expertise, support and guidance regarding complex budget, finance and HR functions to the administrative departments at UVM. We are looking for a new Business Analyst that is as comfortable building a budget, a financial forecast and an Excel spreadsheet as they are building strong, trust-based relationships with a wide variety of University of Vermont partners.
Business Analysts are relied on for specific forms of operational support and strategic advice. This position will serve as the primary point of contact for a collection of designated stakeholders in areas such as: a) budget forecasting, financial management, analysis and reporting; b) annual budget planning and development; and c) strategic and transactional human resource support. Responsibilities also include reviewing and approving transactions among members of the ABSC team to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
A successful ABSC Business Analyst will utilize excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide high-quality stakeholder support and guidance in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment that requires a proven commitment to both customer service and compliance. The role is equally dedicated to the needs of the customer and the needs of the University. Managing these relationships requires empathy, nuance and the willingness/ability to deliver difficult messages when needed.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field and two to four years of related financial experience required. Proficiency with spreadsheet and database applications required. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and team-collaboration skills required. High-level analytical and problem-solving skills required. Excellent organizational and time management skills required. Demonstrated experience and commitment to high-level stakeholder management and overall customer service required.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience using financial accounting and/or human resources systems such as PeopleSoft highly desirable. Experience working with a complex chart of accounts highly desirable.
