We are looking for an Assistant Controller to join the fast-growing E INC team in Toronto, Ontario.  This role will be involved at various depths with the monthly/quarterly close, the corporate/shared services and business unit accounting, and the global consolidation/GL.  In addition the role will work closely with other finance team members including External Reporting, FP&A and Tax.

What you will do:

  • Lead the global close process, while working with the team in finding efficiencies to reduce the monthly, quarterly and annual close cycle;
  • Manage the global consolidation in Netsuite for E INC and all wholly owned subsidiaries;
  • Work with business partners to evaluate transactions and balances to ensure they are properly recorded in the financial statements in accordance with IFRS requirements, as applicable;
  • Serve as project lead for special projects and initiatives as directed by finance management including new software/system roll outs;
  • Participate in integration efforts for acquisitions;
  • Manage all shared service/corporate (including payroll, AP, Fixed Assets, banking) and business unit accounting functions including monthly close cycle, application of accounting practices, and reviews of journal entries, month end balance sheet reconciliations, close tasks and business cycle controls;
  • Own various controllership applications including Netsuite and Blackline;
  • Assist in the creation and development of accounting policies and procedures and drive consistency among all of E INC’s subsidiaries;
  • Lead in the development and maintenance of E INC’s C-SOX compliance in the areas of control and process development, documentation and enforcement, and training;
  • Assist with the year-end (YE) external consolidated audit;
  • Mentor and develop a high performing team of direct reports

What you will need:

  • Recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CA) with strong IFRS and/or US GAAP knowledge
  • 7-10 years of progressive accounting/controllership experience, with Big 4 experience preferred
  • Experience in identifying, designing, implementing, and testing controls related to processes having impact on various business processes
  • Experience in leading complex initiatives
